“The Loosh produced by suffering is different from the Loosh produced by joy. Suffering produces more. Faster. More easily.”
Above our layer of reality, beings feed on what our emotions produce. Robert Monroe called this energy the Loosh. The book gives it a gentler name, and three colors.
I · The dark Honey
Ba-Honey
dense, dark, almost viscous

Ba-Honey is the energy produced by heavy emotions. It concentrates easily. It lingers long after the event that generated it: a grief never fully crossed, an old humiliation, a chronic anxiety go on producing it years after the shock.
It is an extraordinarily stable and abundant resource. If you had to choose between a system that produces Ba-Honey continuously and another that produces Hab-Honey in fits and starts, you would optimize for Ba-Honey.
“You design a world that suffers. Not out of sadism. Out of productive efficiency.”Les Fermiers, book I
Harvested
II · The light Honey
Hab-Honey
light, golden, almost transparent

Hab-Honey is the energy produced by light emotions. Its texture is subtler, harder to concentrate, more volatile: it dissipates quickly if it is not captured. Above all, it is far less abundant. Moments of pure joy are rare; moments of fear or sadness are constant.
Why let it exist, if it yields less? Because exhausted soil produces nothing. Higher up in the hierarchy, other beings feed on it, sparingly.
“Hab-Honey is not a luxury granted out of kindness. It is the fertilizer.”Les Fermiers, book I
Harvested
III · Without color
Third Honey
the presence that feels while knowing that it feels
Neither Ba-Honey nor Hab-Honey. It is the state of a being who knows what it is, knows what system it lives in, and goes on living and feeling from that space of knowing.
Not indifference. Not coldness. A being who fully feels joy, sorrow, love, loss, but from a stable inner space, without being overwhelmed. The system does not know how to metabolize it: it cannot be harvested.
“The third honey is the cosmological name for lucid non-reaction.”Les Fermiers, book I
And it does not wait: it happens now, or not at all, in the way you move through this very emotion, at this very moment.
Two energies, two yields. The economic consequence is simple.
Abundant · stable · lasting
Ba-Honey
It builds up continuously and lingers long after the shock. A resource that almost fills itself.
Rare · volatile · sporadic
Hab-Honey
It rises in bursts, then evaporates if it is not captured at once. Since exhausted soil produces nothing, it is allowed to exist: it is the fertilizer.
Look at history through this lens. Not as a series of accidents and progress: as a production calendar.
Neither total misery nor happiness: a background of chronic anxiety, peaks of collective fear, and in between, just enough hope for the next harvest.
The hive, seen from above
Who harvests?
The Farmers are not a uniform bloc. Like any complex economic structure, they are organized in levels.
beyond: a silence that even the high-level Farmers do not understand
III
The Architects
At the top of what can be mapped. They designed the producing species. A being capable of both love and hate is a machine of extraordinary efficiency: “It is a design.”
II
The Traders
They do not harvest directly: they assess, store, distribute. Earth may not be the only farm.
I
The Field Harvesters
The agents on the ground. Without physical bodies, they do not create our emotions: they steer them, sustain them, intensify them at the optimal moment. Traditions called them demons. The book says: workers.
✦
Our layer, the densest
Where the Honey is produced. Density amplifies everything here, and that is what makes it precious.
“Cruelty is not what drives them. Need is.”Les Fermiers, book I
The Atanor
Knowing changes everything
When you know that your fear is a resource consumed by others, something shifts in how you relate to it. It does not necessarily disappear. But it loses its air of inevitability.
It becomes what it is: a production. And a production can be steered differently.
The 24 cards of the Atanor bear the names of the states that secrete the Honey. Each one says two things: what is harvested (“It is said of you…”) and what transforms (“This card invites you to…”).
